Ipswich Online Cane Toad Challenge

Ipswich City Council has partnered with not-for-profit community environment group Watergum Community to bring to bring the Cane Toad Challenge to Ipswich this season!

Ipswich City Councils first-ever Online Cane Toad Challenge
The race is on to see which Ipswich locals can win the title of Toad Busting Champion by removing the most cane toads from their area during the week.

How does it work?

From 30 January – 8 February 2026, any data logged in the City of Ipswich region will count towards the online challenge. Taking part is easy:

The team or individual that catches the most cane toads during this week wins!
‼️The data survey form is open throughout the cane toad season, and submissions are welcome at any time to help Watergum track cane toad numbers and the impact of community control efforts. However, for this challenge, only catches logged between 30 January and 8 February 2026 will be counted toward the draw.
