GOLD COAST
Community Koala Monitoring InitiativeWatergum’s mission is to provide pathways for education and on-ground action that engages communities across Australia to improve our natural environment, and cultivates cultural change.
This project brings the community together to turn everyday wildlife encounters into powerful conservation action and unforgettable nature-based tourism experiences.
Through hands-on education, practical training, and accessible resources, we equip people with the skills to:
- Responsibly find and observe koalas in the wild
- Accurately record sightings and habitat information
- Recognise signs of disease and report concerns
- Contribute reliable data that supports real conservation planning
What will we be delivering to equip people with these skills?
At the heart of the project is a growing network of passionate citizen scientists. Together, they are creating a valuable, community-driven data resource that strengthens conservation outcomes and supports informed decision-making.
