Watergum Deer – Feral Deer Information Session

April 26, 2022 at 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Feral Deer Information Session

Help to monitor what is commonly described as Australia’s worst emerging pest species.

Feral deer numbers are rapidly increasing on the Gold Coast and we need help from the community to monitor their distribution and impacts.

In addition to impacting agriculture and presenting a danger to motorists, feral deer cause significant long term damage to the environment. Classed as ecosystem engineers, deer have the ability to entirely change landscapes through their behaviour, to the detriment of native species.

You can help to monitor feral deer by learning how to identify different species, how to recognise deer damage in the environment, and most importantly by logging your sightings!

To learn all about feral deer and to better understand the damage they cause, please come along to our community workshop where we will also explain how you can help to monitor feral deer and contribute to the preservation of the environment for our vulnerable native species.
