Waterbug Sampling – Currumbin

Learn how to assess the health of our waterways by sampling and collecting data on waterbug species.
Event details?️ Saturday, 11 October
⏰ 8am-10am? Long Tan ParkLong Tan Park, Currumbin Valley, QLD 4223
You may not have noticed before, but our rivers and creeks are home to hundreds of different species of waterbugs. Some of these waterbugs are extremely sensitive to pollution. When we sample water, we test for the presence or absence of these waterbugs to let us know whether a waterway is healthy or not.
This activity is suitable for both children and adults of all ages.
You will learn how to collect waterbug samples correctly before collecting and identifying the different species.
The data collected is nationally recognised and is shared with our local councils to provide up-to-date information about the health of our waterways.
