September 18, 2020 @ 1:15 pm - 4:15 pm

Gold Coast Seagrass is an established program in partnership with the City of Gold Coast. The Seagrass Gold Coast program raises community a

Seagrass is an important ecosystem engineer providing food and habitat for a diverse array of marine organisms, including turtles, dugongs and seahorses.

Globally, seagrass is disappearing at an alarming rate and it is vital that we monitor its condition here on the Gold Coast!

Watergum Seagrass is an established citizen science program in partnership with the City of Gold Coast, following globally standardised Seagrass-Watch scientific monitoring techniques.

Have fun, meet new people and improve your science skills by assisting us in our vital work monitoring seagrass meadows on the Gold Coast! Onsite training will be provided, however we ask that new volunteers complete our quick online course prior to attending their first event.

We are heading out to Loders Creek on Friday 18th of September for another splash around.

Meeting time is at 1:15 PM at Len Fox Park, Southport.

Please make sure you’re up to date with the latest covid-19 protocols.

It is essential that you bring:

• Enclosed shoes, preferably hard soled wetsuit boots but old runners or dive boots are ok. They will get wet and muddy!

• Sun safe clothing, hat, sun cream and wind jacket

• Water and snacks

This program is hosted by Watergum and supported by the City of Gold Coast.
