Koala Scat ID & Collection Workshop – Nerang National Park

Join Watergum in collaboration with Friends of Nerang National Park on Saturday, October 26th for an engaging, hands-on workshop as part of Watergum’s project to establish a disease profile for Koalas.

Koalas, one of Australia’s beloved icons, face growing threats from disease, habitat loss, and human activity. This project aims to gather vital information to protect local Koala populations, ensuring informed decisions about medical interventions and long-term management.

In this workshop, you’ll:

  • Learn about the importance of Koala scat collection and what the data reveals
  • Discover how to identify Koala activity and find scat
  • Participate in a guided walk to collect Koala scat in Nerang National Park
  • Leave equipped with the skills and tools to contribute to the project across the Gold Coast Hinterland

Please note: We will be walking in the park, so it’s essential to wear appropriate footwear and clothing. Don’t forget your sun protection, water, and a hat to stay comfortable and safe!

Be part of a meaningful initiative and help safeguard Koalas for future generations!

Note: Registration is required to join this event
