Gainsborough Greens BioBlitz

We are very excited to announce the Gainsborough Greens Mini BioBlitz! This is an opportunity for residents to attend a BioBlitz in November and if you like it come to some of our others.

If you have an interest in nature and all the fascinating plants and creatures, this is the event for you. Spend the day exploring the conservation areas that surround your neighbourhood with family and/or friends as there will be something to do for everyone!

Book in and enjoy a morning, afternoon or evening of flora and fauna research with expert survey leaders. They’ll be showing you the intricate natural features of your neighbourhood and sharing their expertise in each of their own field ! Starting off in the morning with Bird Surveys by Jai Rhandhawa and Emily Boys (Wildlife Photographers), Lyndsey Kershaw (Wildlife Educator), Nadya Lees (Senior Wildife Ecologist), then choices between a Koala Survey by Natalie McLeod (Koala Researcher), Botany Survey by Clay Stokoe (Gainsborough Greens Original Botanist)and a kid friendly Frog Hotel building workshop by Watergum (Environmental Community Organisation). A sausage sizzle for lunch will be provided by Mirvac before the afternoon’s activities.

Then, post lunch there’s choices between two Botany Surveys. First, by Jacob White (Botanist) and Andrew Scanlon (Bush Regenerator) then secondly Jaiden Johnston-Bates, another more in depth Koala Survey by Natalie McLeod (Koala Researcher), a kid friendly Hollow Homes workshop by Watergum leading into the Wildlife Show by Wild Rangers who will have a multitude of native wildlife to see, touch and appreciate, don’t miss this.

A dinner break will be followed by the nightime activities including choices between a Frog Survey by Brett Malcolm (Frog Expert), Nightspotting by Jai Rhandhawa and Emily Boys (Wildlife Photographers), Nightspotting by Lyndsey Kershaw (Wildlife Educator) and a kid friendly Toad Busting workshop by Watergum (Environmental Community Organisation).

IMPORTANT NOTE: Long pants and closed in shoes are a mandatory requirement to participate in these event.
