Backyard Biodiversity and Cane Toad Control – Tweed Information Night

February 7 at 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Backyard Biodiversity and Cane Toad Control – Information Night Hosted by Tweed Shire Council and Watergum

Tweed Shire Council has partnered with not-for-profit environmental group Watergum Community to bring cane toad control to the Tweed this season.

Did you know your backyard could be home to frogs, snakes and even quolls? Cane toads are common in the Tweed, but they cause declines in native wildlife, poison domestic pets and have negative impacts on our local agricultural industries.

Come along and learn about how cane toads impact biodiversity in your own backyard, and what you can do to help!

We will give you tips on how to control cane toads effectively and humanely in your area. This includes information on how to use our world first tadpole trapping technology, which enables you to break the breeding cycle of cane toads!

Join us on Wednesday February 7th at the Murwillumbah Services Club to learn how to control cane toads at every life stage, identify native frogs vs cane toads, toad proof your waterbodies and create habitat for wildlife!

Spaces are limited so please register to attend!

Enjoy dinner and a drink with the event – food and drinks are available to purchase at the Services Club and can be brought to the talk! Please arrive early if you’d like to order.

The Tweed Community Cane Toad Control program is an initiative of Tweed Shire Council.

Watergum is an environmental charity based on the Gold Coast, QLD. Our mission is to help the community engage in real, on-ground work to restore, maintain and protect the natural environment.

You can find out more information about cane toads at www.watergum.org or www.tweed.nsw.gov.au/cane-toads.
