The Nerang Riverkeepers was established in 2000 and has assisted with the restoration of the Nerang River on the Gold Coast.

The group has contributed to the restoration of around 4 hectares of park land along the Nerang River through environmental weed management and planted more than 20,000 native plants. The group has also made a significant contribution to the control of the invasive weed, cats claw creeper vine, which is found at many locations along the Nerang River.
