The Friends are a group of volunteers formed in 1998 that have helped establish the Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens.

Friends of the Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens undertake many honorary activities to promote and support the Gardens. They are advocates and partners. Their roles include leadership and inspiring the community, planning, planting, propagating and gardening, fundraising, coordinating events, education and visitors services such as guiding and children’s programmes. Friends are involved in a range of technical aspects such as assisting with Plant Collections, Records and the Herbarium. They are also involved with creative activities including arts and crafts and floral arranging using Australian native plants.
