Cane Toad Control

Cane toads (Rhinella marina) are an invasive species in Australia that impact our wildlife, domestic pets and eat beneficial insects, which can impact local agriculture and ecosystems.

Watergum is partnering with Tweed Shire Council to monitor and manage cane toad populations on Council-managed lands.

This project focuses on identifying and removing cane toad eggs, tadpoles, and juvenile toads to reduce metamorph numbers. Training will be provided to Council field staff to ensure effective and sustainable cane toad control. You can help this project by reporting all sightings of cane toad breeding activity within the Tweed Shire to ToadScan https://feralscan.org.au/toadscan/map.aspx
