Gold Coast Biggest Tree Planting Day is a partnership initiative between the City of Gold Coast, Nerang Riverkeepers and the Gold Coast Catchment Association. The one-day event is delivered by the Gold Coast Catchment Association in partnership with Nerang Riverkeepers on behalf of City of Gold Coast.
2016 was a milestone for Nerang Riverkeepers, as they have completed a wetland restoration project with planting over 42,000 native plants over 3 annual biggest tree planting days. We will be taking this event up the M1 to Coomera to kick-start a new renewal greening project with Coomera River Catchment Care Group.
The aim of the event is to:
– Raise awareness about the importance of healthy waterway
– Engage the local community to connect to a local waterway
– Build on the success of previous Gold Coast Biggest Tree Planting Day event
– Foster interest in broader environmental volunteer opportunities across the Gold Coast.
We are currently packaging this event into a free to download resource. Should you wish to find out how you can coordinate a similar event in your community please email firstname.lastname@example.org
