DESCRIPTION:Come along for a special guided walk during Platypus Month to learn about a unique local mammal with a platypus expert.\n\n\nJoin PlatypusWatch for a walk through platypus habitat in the Albert River catchment and learn all about this iconic species. Led by ecologist and platypus expert\, Dr Tamielle Brunt from Wildlife Queensland\, you’ll discover everything from their fascinating biology and behaviour to the habitat and food they need to survive. \nWe’ll also talk about local conservation efforts and how you can support local platypus populations by getting involved with Watergum’s surveys along the Albert River. Following the walk\, a light morning tea will be provided and you will have the opportunity to ask the experts additional questions. \nPlease note\, there is no guarantee that platypuses will be present during the guided walk. \n \nIMPORTANT INFORMATION BEFORE YOU REGISTER: \n\nThis event is designed for adults and families.\nRecommended for ages 8 years and older with parent/guardian supervision.\nThis is an outdoor walk in a bushland environment with uneven surfaces and unsealed tracks. Participants must be physically able to be stand and walk through a park for up to 1.5 hours.\nYou must register and secure a ticket for all people attending. Spaces are limited – each session is set to a maximum capacity.\nDetailed event information will be sent to the email address provided upon registering.\n\nINFORMATION FOR THE DAY OF THE EVENT: \n\nPlease arrive 15 minutes before the start of the event to check in.\nPlease wear fully enclosed shoes\, sun-smart clothing\, hat and sunscreen. Bring along drinking water\, insect repellent and a camera or mobile phone for pictures.\nThis event may be cancelled or postponed if the weather conditions aren’t suitable. Our target for the day is to plant 1080 native wetland plants and we need your help!
