DESCRIPTION:Join us for a night-time adventure for World Wetlands Day to see which frog species are hiding in Logan’s parks and natural spaces!\n\n\nExplore Logan’s natural environment in a different light and learn about the diverse species of frogs that live locally. Our experienced guides and local frog expert will lead you along the forest trails\, sharing tips and tricks to help you spot our amazing amphibians in their natural habitat. \nDuring the walk you’ll take part in a national citizen science project and help count local frog populations! From croaks and barks to whistles and bleats\, every frog species makes a unique sound. Record frog calls through the free FrogID app to help measure the health and distribution of frogs around the nation. \nThis event is ideal for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts looking to sharpen their senses. Don’t miss the opportunity to immerse yourself in the magic of nature night! \n \nIMPORTANT INFORMATION BEFORE YOU REGISTER: \n\nThis event is designed for adults and families.\nRecommended for ages 10 years and older with parent/guardian supervision.\nThis is an outdoor walk in a bushland environment with uneven surfaces and unsealed tracks. Participants must be physically able to be stand and walk through a park for up to 2.5 hours – moderate fitness required.\nYou must register and secure a ticket for all people attending. Spaces are limited.\nDetailed event information will be sent to the email address provided upon registering.\n\n \nINFORMATION FOR THE DAY OF THE EVENT: \n\nPlease arrive 15 minutes before the start of the event to check in.\nPlease wear fully enclosed shoes and suitable clothes for cooler temperatures. Bring along a torch\, drinking water\, insect repellent\, and a camera or mobile phone for pictures.\nThis event may be cancelled or postponed if the weather conditions aren’t suitable. SUMMARY:Native frog survey for Gold Coast Cane Toad Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Help gather data for our new citizen science study to monitor the impacts of invasive cane toads on native frog species!\n\n\nCity of Gold Coast has partnered with not-for-profit community environment group Watergum to bring a new cane toad citizen science study to the Gold Coast. \nAs a part of our new study we need your help to monitor native frog species at our study site of Schuster Park to better understand the impacts of invasive cane toads on these species.  \n \nJoin our Frog Survey at 6:30pm on Thursday the 13 February 2025 at Schuster Park\, and work together to monitor native species! We’ll be meeting by the Schuster Park playground. \n \nOur experienced guides and local frog expert will lead you throughout the park\, sharing tips and tricks to help you spot our amazing amphibians in their natural habitat. \nDuring the night you’ll contribute in our new citizen science project by recording species sightings! Using the free FrogID app we’ll be recording frog calls and sightings to help measure the health and distribution of frogs across Gold Coast. \n \nWe’ll begin with a brief educational talk\, followed by an introduction to our new citizen science study and how YOU can get involved! Then we’ll head of through the park and work together to count as many native species as possible! \n \nPlease wear closed in shoes and appropriate clothing for the outdoors at night. DESCRIPTION:Watergum Community Cane Toad Busting – Banora Point\n\n\nTweed Shire Council has partnered with not-for-profit community environment group Watergum to bring cane toad control to the Tweed this season. \n \nCane toads in the Tweed cause declines in our native wildlife\, poison domestic pets and have negative impacts on our local agricultural industries. \n \nJoin our Community Toad Bust on Tuesay\, 15th January at 7.00pm to 9.00pm (AEDT) in Banora Point and work together to control cane toads! This is a great activity for the whole family. \nMeeting location: John Baker Reserve\, Banora Point – meet in front of the carpark off Darlington Drive. \n \nCome along to meet some like-minded individuals\, learn some new toad busting skills and make a difference for our environment! There will be prizes up for grabs for the top toad busters! \n \nHow the event will run: \nWatergum staff will welcome you with a brief educational talk\, then we will split into groups and work together to clear the park of as many cane toads as we can! \n \nPlease wear closed in shoes and appropriate clothing for the outdoors at night. If you have a toad busting kit\, please bring it along on the night! You’ll also learn all about the ecological impact of this pest species in your own backyard\, ways to toad proof your home\, and how to create habitat for native frogs and other wildlife. \nThis event is ideal for families\, frog and nature enthusiasts\, and anyone interested in working together to make a positive impact in their local area. \n \nIMPORTANT INFORMATION BEFORE YOU REGISTER: \n\nThis event is designed for adults and families.\nRecommended for ages 6 years and older with parent/guardian supervision.\nThis is an outdoor event in a bushland environment. Participants must be physically able to be stand and walk through a park for up to 2 hours.\nWe will euthanise and dispose of the toads humanely and responsibly after the event.\nYou must register and secure a ticket for all people attending.
