DESCRIPTION:Come along to our FREE webinar to learn learn about how cane toads impact biodiversity in your own backyard\, and what you can do to help!\n\n\nTweed Shire Council has partnered with not-for-profit environmental group Watergum Community to bring cane toad control to the Tweed this season. \n \nDid you know your backyard could be home to frogs\, snakes and even quolls? Cane toads are common in the Tweed\, but they cause declines in native wildlife\, poison domestic pets and have negative impacts on our local agricultural industries. \n \nCome along and learn about how cane toads impact biodiversity in your own backyard\, and what you can do to help! \n \nWe will give you tips on how to control cane toads effectively and humanely in your area\, including how to start your very own toad busting group! This webinar will also introduce our new citizen science study\, where the community can actively contribute to advancing cane toad control and shaping future strategies! \n \nJoin us on Tuesday\, October 8 2024 at 6.00pm to 8.00pm (AEDT) via Microsoft Teams to learn how to control cane toads at every life stage\, identify native frogs vs cane toads\, toad proof your waterbodies and create habitat for native frogs and other wildlife! \n \nSpaces are limited so please register to attend! \n \nThe Tweed Community Cane Toad Control program is an initiative of Tweed Shire Council. \n \nWatergum is an environmental charity based on the Gold Coast\, QLD. This project aims to gather vital information to protect local Koala populations\, ensuring informed decisions about medical interventions and long-term management. \n \nIn this workshop\, you’ll: \n\nLearn about the importance of Koala scat collection and what the data reveals\nDiscover how to identify Koala activity and find scat\nParticipate in a guided walk to collect Koala scat in Nerang National Park\nLeave equipped with the skills and tools to contribute to the project across the Gold Coast Hinterland\n\n \nPlease note: We will be walking in the park\, so it’s essential to wear appropriate footwear and clothing.
