DESCRIPTION:Join a guided TurtleWalk with a TurtleWatch representative!\n\n\nJoin us for a TurtleWalk on the shores of Broadbeach! This event is a great way to improve your turtle knowledge as well as the techniques used to monitor turtle activity here on the Gold Coast.   \nOur afternoon will start off with a guided walk\, demonstrating how to conduct a TurtleWalk and log data through our online portal. As we go we will point out key indicators for turtle activity. This is a great way to meet like minded people and help out the Gold Coast turtle population! \nThe TurtleWalk will go through the following components of the program: \n\nGeneral turtle education\nTurtle ID and patterns\nHow to monitor turtle activity to collect data\nTurtle First Aid\nTurtleWatch Data entry\n\nPlease register for to receive event details. SUMMARY:Scenic Rim BioBlitz 2023 - Black Rock Rd
DESCRIPTION:Join the experts and enjoy a weekend of exploration in nature on Stenzel – Black Rock property.\n\n\nJoin the Scenic Rim Regional Council (Land for Wildlife) on guided walks on private property on Black Rock Road in Coochin. The Stenzel family has always had a keen interest in wildlife and the current owners maintain detailed records of flora and fauna. Quite a number of flora surveys have been conducted over the last 35 years\, and expert botanists regularly visit the property.  \nBe part of the BioBlitz in 2022 by getting involved this October! This event is for everyone\, no matter what your level of expertise is. \nThe purpose of this event is to highlight both the immense biodiversity spread across the Scenic Rim\, as well as to engage the public in science and nature learning using the citizen science platform iNaturalist. You can add all your data into the Scenic Rim project to share what you have found as well as see what other participants found in their area!  \nThis will be a fun and educational activity where you will be able to enhance your knowledge and connect with fellow nature lovers and experts in the field.  \nThe surveys are quite intensive\, therefore\, please make sure that you book surveys appropriately so that others can join the BioBlitz too. Some surveys run at the same time so you will have to choose when registering what survey you would like to join as unfortunately\, you can’t join all surveys! \nSchedule to be annouched. Tickets will go live in January. \nWhat to bring: \nBYO smartphone\, sun protection & binoculars. Please wear comfortable closed-in shoes and long sleeves/pants. Be prepared and bring adequate water and food. DESCRIPTION:A TurtleWatch Beach Clean on ‘Australia Clean Up’ day by Watergum and Sea World sponsored by Landcare Australia\, Billabong and Boardriders.\n\n\nJoin TurtleWatch for a Beach Clean at various local beaches this turtle season! \nF﻿rom November through to March\, TurtleWatch Gold Coast in collaboration with Watergum and Sea World will be visiting beaches along the Gold Coast to spread awareness about turtle activity. These beach cleans ups will aim to educate local communities on the importance of marine turtles\, their presence on the Gold Coast\, and what we can do to help! \nGuided turtles walks will run simultaneously whilst rubbish is removed from turtle nesting habitats. You will learn how to forage for waterbugs and to check out what else is hidden in our waterways. \nWaterbugs are not only an important food source for many creatures\, but they play a vital role in the health of our waterways. DESCRIPTION:Join us out in nature for this interactive kids workshop that will teach you all about the froggy friends that we have in our environment.\n\n\nCome along to one of Logan’s local parks for this hands-on workshop to learn all about our native frogs and what you can do to help them in your garden! \nAustralia is home to more than 240 species of frogs that come in many different shapes and sizes. They are a favourite visitor in gardens\, and it doesn’t matter where you are in the City of Logan or how big your outdoor space is\, you will surely have frogs lurking nearby. \nThis workshop\, that both kids and adults will thoroughly enjoy\, includes an introductory presentation that will help you to identify your hopping friends and learn all about their specific needs.
