SUMMARY:Watergum PlatypusWatch - Gold Coast Induction and Education
DESCRIPTION:Join our online induction so you can join our Platypus survey program!\n\n\nWatergum PlatypusWatch – Gold Coast Induction and Education \nCome along and we will teach you everything you need to know about this unique species\, then those who want to can enrol onto our PlatypusWatch survey program. \nThe topics we will cover are: \n• Platypus history \n• The unique biology of the platypus \n• Life cycle and breeding \n• Food and habitat \n• Threats to platypus \n• Watergum’s PlatypusWatch survey program. \nWatergum’s PlatypusWatch is a citizen science program that has monitored platypus populations for the past 13 years. Community volunteers help to collect vital data on platypus populations and habitat by going out into the environment to search for platypus\, with all sightings and observations being reported to council and added to national databases. \nNow more than ever\, our local platypus need your help. With increased urbanisation and natural disasters\, platypus populations are under threat. With your help we can monitor family groups and help ensure their survival for future generations. \nFor more information email platypus@watergum.org and visit the website: www.watergum.org \nThis workshop is supported by the City of Gold Coast\, Citizen Science and Catchment Grants Program.
