DESCRIPTION:Join us out in nature for this interactive kids workshop that will teach you all about the froggy friends that we have in our environment.\n\n\nCome along to one of Logan’s local parks for this hands-on workshop during FrogID Week to learn all about our native frogs and what you can do to help them in your garden! \nAustralia is home to more than 240 species of frogs that come in many different shapes and sizes. They are a favourite visitor in gardens\, and it doesn’t matter where you are in the City of Logan or how big your outdoor space is\, you will surely have frogs lurking nearby. \nThis workshop\, that both kids and adults will thoroughly enjoy\, includes an introductory presentation that will help you to identify your hopping friends and learn all about their specific needs. These beach cleans ups will aim to educate local communities on the importance of marine turtles\, their presence on the Gold Coast\, and what we can do to help! \nGuided turtles walks will run simultaneously whilst rubbish is removed from turtle nesting habitats. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a night-time adventure during FrogID Week to see which frog species are hiding in Logan’s parks and natural spaces!\n\n\nAustralia has over 240 species of native frogs. They are all around us and we want to teach you how to spot them and  appreciate them safely. \nThese amphibians are amazing – they drink through their skin\, use their eyes to swallow and inhabit every layer of the forest from the floor to the very tops of the trees! Frogs are one of the most threatened groups of animals on the planet\, it’s super important to learn as much about them as possible so we can help to support wild populations.  \nCome along for this family fun walk and have the opportunity to accompany a frog expert of a real wildlife survey. You will receive a crash course in frogs before venturing out into the night to see what we can find and document! \nDuring the walk you can take part in Australia’s Biggest Frog Count for FrogID Week (11 – 20  November 2022). Record frog calls through the free FrogID app to help measure the health and distribution of frogs around the nation. From croaks and barks\, to whistles and bleats\, every frog species makes a unique sound. DESCRIPTION:Seagrass Survey – South Stradbroke Island Site 2\n\n\nSeagrass is an important ecosystem engineer providing food and habitat for a diverse array of marine organisms\, including turtles\, dugongs and seahorses.  \nGlobally\, seagrass is disappearing at an alarming rate and it is vital that we monitor its condition here on the Gold Coast.  \nWatergum Seagrass is an established citizen science program in partnership with the City of Gold Coast\, following globally standardised Seagrass-Watch scientific monitoring techniques.  \nHave fun\, meet new people and improve your science skills by helping us to monitor seagrass meadows on the Gold Coast! Onsite training will be provided\, however we ask that new volunteers complete our quick online course prior to attending their first event. This is an opportunity for residents to attend a BioBlitz in November and if you like it come to some of our others.  \nIf you have an interest in nature and all the fascinating plants and creatures\, this is the event for you. Spend the day exploring the conservation areas that surround your neighbourhood with family and/or friends as there will be something to do for everyone! \nBook in and enjoy a morning\, afternoon or evening of flora and fauna research with expert survey leaders. They’ll be showing you the intricate natural features of your neighbourhood and sharing their expertise in each of their own field ! Starting off in the morning with Bird Surveys by Jai Rhandhawa and Emily Boys (Wildlife Photographers)\, Lyndsey Kershaw (Wildlife Educator)\, Nadya Lees (Senior Wildife Ecologist)\, then choices between a Koala Survey by Natalie McLeod (Koala Researcher)\, Botany Survey by Clay Stokoe (Gainsborough Greens Original Botanist)and a kid friendly Frog Hotel building workshop by Watergum (Environmental Community Organisation). A sausage sizzle for lunch will be provided by Mirvac before the afternoon’s activities.  \nThen\, post lunch there’s choices between two Botany Surveys. The Stenzel family has always had a keen interest in wildlife and the current owners maintain detailed records of flora and fauna. Quite a number of flora surveys have been conducted over the last 35 years\, and expert botanists regularly visit the property.  \nBe part of the BioBlitz in 2022 by getting involved this October! This event is for everyone\, no matter what your level of expertise is. \nThe purpose of this event is to highlight both the immense biodiversity spread across the Scenic Rim\, as well as to engage the public in science and nature learning using the citizen science platform iNaturalist.
