DESCRIPTION:Would you like to become a surveyor for Watergum’s PlatypusWatch and help to monitor wild platypus populations? \nCome along and we will teach you everything you need to know about this unique species\, then those who want to can enrol onto our PlatypusWatch survey program. \nThe topics we will cover are: \n\nPlatypus history\nThe unique biology of the platypus\nLife cycle and breeding\nFood and habitat\nThreats to platypus\nWatergum’s PlatypusWatch survey program.\n\nWatergum’s PlatypusWatch is a citizen science program that has monitored platypus populations on the Gold Coast and in Logan for the past 13 years. Community volunteers help to collect vital data on platypus populations and habitat by going out into the environment to search for platypus\, with all sightings and observations being reported to council and added to national databases. \nNow more than ever\, our local platypus need your help. With increased urbanisation and natural disasters\, platypus populations are under threat.
