SUMMARY:Park after Dark: Froggy Adventures
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a night-time adventure to see which frog species are hiding in Logan’s parks and natural spaces!\n\n\nAustralia has over 240 species of native frogs. They are all around us and we want to teach you how to spot them and appreciate them safely. \nThese amphibians are amazing – they drink through their skin\, use their eyes to swallow and inhabit every layer of the forest from the floor to the very tops of the trees! Frogs are one of the most threatened groups of animals on the planet\, it’s super important to learn as much about them as possible so we can help to support wild populations. \nCome along for this family fun walk and have the opportunity to accompany a frog expert of a real wildlife survey. You will receive a crash course in frogs before venturing out into the night to see what we can find and document! \nDuring the walk you can help measure the health and distribution of frogs around the nation. From croaks and barks\, to whistles and bleats\, every frog species makes a unique sound. Using the free FrogID app\, you can record the frogs calling around you and help us count Australia’s frogs. \nRequirements: \n• Please wear fully long pants\, long-sleeved shirt and enclosed shoes. \n• Please bring water bottle\, a torch and a fully charged mobile device with FrogID app downloaded. \n• Suitable for ages 12 years and over\, parent/guardian supervision required. \nImportant information: \n• Bookings required for all attendees. Places are limited. \n• Please make sure you are aware of the current COVID-19 restrictions and do not attend if you are displaying COVID-19 or cold/flu symptoms\, no matter how mild. \n• If you can no longer attend\, please cancel your booking via Eventbrite to free up your place to those who are on the waiting list. Alternatively\, contact the Councils Environment Team on (07) 3412 4491 or environment@logan.qld.gov.au. \n• For more information email canetoads@watergum.org and the website: www.watergum.org/canetoads \nThe workshop is delivered by Watergum as part of the City of Logan’s Environmental Events and Activities program and Citizen Science initiatives. \nPlease visit logan.qld.gov.au/environmentalevents for a complete listing of all environmental events and activities run by Logan City Council.
