DESCRIPTION:Waterbug Sampling – Guanaba\n\n\nLearn how to assess the health of our waterways by sampling and collecting data on waterbug species. \nYou may not have noticed before\, but our rivers and creeks are home to hundreds of different species of waterbugs. Some of these waterbugs are very sensitive to pollution and so through their presence or absence\, we are able to determine whether a particular waterway is healthy or not. \nThis activity is suitable for both children (age 5+) and adults. \nYou will learn how to collect waterbug samples correctly before collecting and identifying the different species. \nThe data collected is nationally recognised and is shared with our local councils to provide up to date information about the health of our waterways. \nWe sample waterbugs 4 times a year\, come along to your local sampling session every three months to see how the biodiversity changes with the seasons. \n \nWhere is it? \nGuanaba Creek\, 33 Tarata Road\, Guanaba \nGPS Co-Ordinates: -27.93784\, 153.25249 \n \nWhat to bring \n*Gum boots/water shoes. DESCRIPTION:It’s the Great Southern BioBlitz once again!\n\n\nCome and explore one of our local bushlands and learn more about Logan’s native plants and wildlife! \nThis free walk will help you with your ID skills and teach you how to use the popular citizen science app\, iNaturalist. Once you know how to use iNaturalist\, you’ll be ready to help contribute your plant and wildlife sightings whenever you are out in nature. \nYour sightings will help showcase our beautiful biodiversity to the world as part of the 2023 Great Southern BioBlitz .  \nThe City of Logan is once again participating in the biggest BioBlitz event across the Southern Hemisphere which will run from 24-27 November 2023.
