SUMMARY:Park after Dark: Froggy Adventures
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a night-time adventure during FrogID Week to see which frog species are hiding in Logan’s parks and natural spaces!\n\n\nCome along for a night adventure with a frog expert to discover our amazing amphibians and take part in a national citizen science event. You will receive a crash course in frogs before venturing out into the night to see what we can find and document! \nAustralia has over 240 species of native frogs that live a variety of habitats – from our backyards to wetlands. Frogs are one of the most threatened groups of animals on the planet\, so it’s super important to learn as much about them as possible to help support wild populations. \nDuring the walk you can take part in Australia’s Biggest Frog Count\, FrogID Week (3 – 12 November 2023)! Record frog calls through the free FrogID app to help measure the health and distribution of frogs around the nation. From croaks and barks\, to whistles and bleats\, every frog species makes a unique sound. Using the free FrogID app\, you can record the frogs calling around you and help us count Australia’s frogs. \nImportant information: \n\nRegistrations required for all attendees – spaces are limited! \nSuitable for ages 10 years and older – parent/guardian supervision required for under 18’s.\nThere are no toilet facilities at this location.\nThis event may be cancelled or postponed if the weather conditions aren’t suitable. We will notify you via text and email no later than 1 hour prior to the start of the event.\nIf you can no longer attend\, please cancel your booking via Eventbrite to free up your place to those who are on the waiting list. Alternatively\, contact the Councils Environment Team on (07) 3412 4491 or environment@logan.qld.gov.au.\nFor more information email info@watergum.org and the website: www.watergum.org \n\nThe workshop is delivered by Watergum as part of the City of Logan’s Environmental Events and Activities program and Citizen Science initiatives.
