DESCRIPTION: This is the first of three upcoming cane toad busting challenges will be held across the Tweed throughout the cane toad season!\n We’re working in partnership with Watergum and our community to get rid of the pest from the environment.\n The first week-long challenge starts on Monday 12 December.\n Log your catch and join the toad busting fun from your own home!\n How does it work?\n1️ The idea is to get together with friends and family\, get outside and collect cane toads from your local environment.\n2️ Log your data online to enter this fun competition and be in the draw for some very exciting prizes! https://watergum.org/toad-busting-database/\n3️ The team or individual that catches the most cane toads wins!\n First prize is a family pass to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.\n Second prize is a toad busting kit.\n Third prize is a Steve Parish kids’ cane toad story book and a cane toad control manual.\n Prizes are drawn on Monday 19 December!\n What do I need to get started?\n• Bucket with a lid\n• Gloves\n• Torch\n• Pick-up stick (optional)\nVisit the Watergum website  https://watergum.org/canetoads/ to learn about:\n Cane toad Vs native frog ID\n Humane euthanasia\n How to log your catches\n How to set up a community toad busting group\n Captured toads can be donated at local Tweed Shire cane toad drop-off points and will be used by Watergum to create toad tadpole lures. DESCRIPTION:Get ready for cane toad season and help protect Logan’s biodiversity!\n\n\nCome and enjoy a drink or bite to eat as you learn about cane toads\, tadpole trapping and more!  \nCane toads are highly toxic at every life stage\, presenting a significant danger to pets\, wildlife and agriculture. These pests spread at an alarming rate and we need to work together to reduce their numbers and reclaim our properties and natural areas. \nFind out how you can get involved in The Great Cane Toad Bust community control activities\, and how to help reduce the impact at your properties with tadpole traps\, toad-proofing your waterbodies and more.  \nThere are new and improved tadpole traps  that uses the toad’s own toxins against them. Lures made from toxic cane toad glands tempt tadpoles into traps that can catch upwards of 4\,000 in one go! \nImportant information: \n\nBookings required for all attendees. Places are limited.\nFood and drinks can be purchased from the Bistro to enjoy during the session.\nPlease make sure you are aware of the current COVID-19 restrictions and do not attend if you are displaying COVID-19 or cold/flu symptoms\, no matter how mild. \nIf you can no longer attend\, please cancel your booking via Eventbrite to free up your place to those who are on the waiting list.
