DESCRIPTION:Calling budding water investigators of all ages!\n\n\nJoin us for our Waterbugs Survey and learn how to be a clever water investigator using all sorts of special equipment. You may not have noticed before\, but our rivers and creeks are home to hundreds of different species of waterbugs! \nUsing your detective skills\, you will be encouraged to discover and identify the amazing creatures lurking under the surface. You will learn how to forage for waterbugs and to check out what else is hidden in our waterways. \nWaterbugs are not only an important food source for many creatures\, but they play a vital role in the health of our waterways. Some are very sensitive to pollution\, so through monitoring their numbers and diversity we can keep track of how healthy our waterways are.  \nThe data collected is nationally recognised and shared with our local councils to provide up to date information about the health of our waterways. \nImportant information: \n\nSign up today\, spaces are limited! \nThis event is suitable for children 6 and over – parental/guardian supervision required.\nIf you can no longer attend\, please cancel your booking via Eventbrite to free up your place to those who are on the waiting list. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a fun-packed and interactive workshop where kids will learn all about waterways and waterbugs!\n\n\nCome along to discover more about our waterways and the hundreds of different species of waterbugs that call them home! This is a hands-on session that we know kids (and adults) will thoroughly enjoy. \nKids will become scientist as they forage and discover waterbugs from river and creek samples. They’ll be using all sorts of special equipment to learn how to collect and identify these important insects.  \nWaterbugs play a vital role in our waterways and their diversity helps us understand the health of local rivers and creeks. They’re also an important food source for many creatures\, including the platypus!  \nImportant information:  \n\nRegistrations required for children only. Places are limited. \nSuitable for ages 5 years and older – parent/guardian supervision required.\nPlease make sure you are aware of the current COVID-19 restrictions and do not attend if you are displaying COVID-19 or cold/flu symptoms\, no matter how mild.\nIf you can no longer attend\, please cancel your booking via Eventbrite to free up your place to those who are on the waiting list.
