DESCRIPTION:Learn about platypus over dinner\n\n\nWould you like to learn more about one of Australia’s most iconic species? \nWould you like to become a surveyor for Watergum’s PlatypusWatch and help to monitor wild platypus populations? \nOrder yourself a plate of food and join us in the Bistro of Logan City Rec Club on 22nd of June at 6:00PM . \nWhile you enjoy your dinner we will teach you everything you need to know about this unique species and those who want to can enrol onto our PlatypusWatch survey program. \nThe topics we will cover are: \n* Platypus history \n* The unique biology of the Platypus \n* Life Cycle and Breeding \n* Food and habitat \n* Threats to platypus \n* Watergum’s PlatypusWatch survey program \nWatergum’s PlatypusWatch is a citizen science program that has monitored platypus populations on the Gold Coast and in Logan for the past 12 years. Community volunteers help to collate vital data on platypus populations and habitat by going out into the environment to search for platypus\, with all sightings and observations reported to council and added to national databases. \nNow more than ever\, our local platypus need your help. With increased urbanisation and natural disasters\, platypus populations are under threat. With your help we can monitor family groups and help ensure their survival for future generations. \nPlatypusWatch is supported and funded by Logan City Council \nwww.watergum.org/platypuswatch \nPlease ensure you are up to date with the latest Covid-19 restriction requirements.
