DESCRIPTION:Water Quality Testing\n\n\n\nLearn how to assess the health of our waterways through water quality sampling!\n \n\nSeize the opportunity to use our state of the art water quality probe to record vital data regarding our local water composition. Water pH\, oxygen levels\, temperature and other parameters can have a huge impact on the quality of our waterways and on the creatures that depend on them for survival. The Water Quality program collects monthly readings at select locations in order to assess the changing quality of our waterways throughout the year. We also rely on our volunteers to record observational details that could have an effect on the water quality reading such as current and recent weather conditions\, visible rubbish and pollution\, weeds\, site usage or disturbance\, and wildlife sightings.\n \n The data collected is shared with local councils and highlights those areas where action needs to be taken! If you are passionate about the environment and keen to contribute to its preservation\, we encourage you to come along and meet like-minded people while learning new skills and collecting vital data!\n \nCoordinated by The Gold Coast Catchment Association and supported by the City of Gold Coast – Catchment Management Unit\, the Water Quality Monitoring program is a collaborative effort between Gecko\, Coomera River Catchment Group\, Nerang River Keepers\, Austinville Landcare & Somerset College\n \nWe are heading out with our Coomera Crew! Meeting location to be confirmed. Meeting time is at 09:00 AM\, location to be confirmed. Through hard work and the support of our partners we have moved to the next level.  We now have an office\, all of our programs have grown\, we have started new programs\, and we have organised fantastic events like the Numinbah Biggest Tree Planting and the Austinville Bioblitz. \nWe will vote in the new committee\, share some of the highlights of 2019 and let you know what we plan to do in 2020.   \nWe will also provide a short entertaining slide show of photos and videos of all of you doing your good work throughout 2019. \nThis is our annual opportunity to get the GCCA family together for a catch up. We would love to see you there. \nThe meeting will be held at the RACV Royal Pines in Benowa on the 16th of November starting at 1:45pm following the City of Gold Coast Environmental Awards.
