SUMMARY:Nature Play QLD Passport - Gold Coast
DESCRIPTION:The Nature Play QLD Gold Coast Passport is a fun and interactive way for children to explore the Gold Coast’s natural environment. Using their passport booklet\, children are given the opportunity to venture across the Gold Coast on 11 missions ranging from Gainsborough Environment Reserve in Pimpama to Bochow Park in Numinbah Valley and Tugun Hill Conservation Area in Tugun. Missions have been designed to be fun\, while being educational and developing children’s creative abilities. It also takes into consideration access to family-friendly facilities. \nThe Gold Coast Nature Play Passport is a free program\, supported by a range of free and/or low cost activities for children to participate in at Passport sites. Gold Coast Nature Passport is an opportunity to increase the time children spend in unstructured play outdoors. It promotes health benefits\, including cognitive\, social and emotional development\, and it builds resilience and creativity. Programs such as Nature Play provide a crucial role in developing environmental awareness and stewardship in later life. \nThe special edition Gold Coast passport has been developed and funded by the City of Gold Coast (City)\, in partnership with Nature Play Queensland.

SUMMARY:Tarrabora Reserve Bushcare Group
DESCRIPTION:The Tarrabora Reserve Bushcare Group was established on 2 March 1999 and assists with controlling environmental weeds and the revegetation of native plant species. The group is partnered with the Natural Areas Management Unit (NAMU) under the Beaches to Bushland Volunteer Landcare Program. \nTarrabora Reserve is a popular parkland located on Currumbin Creek at Palm Beach. It was saved from development in the 1960s and 70s by locals and a group known as the Currumbin Estuary Protection Committee\, which has since changed its name to Friends of Currumbin. \nThe Reserve is under the management of the City of Gold Coast (NAMU) and looked after by the Tarrabora Reserve Bushcare Group along with the Friends of Currumbin\, who continue to carry out the role of protecting the Currumbin area. \nDates: second Saturday of the month from February to November\nTime: 8am – 10am\nPlace: Tarrabora Reserve\, Currumbin\nWhat to bring: Sturdy shoes\, long sleeve shirt\, pants\, sunscreen\, hat and some water.

By volunteering in a  Bushcare Group you can help protect\, maintain and enhance our natural areas by participating in activities such as identifying and controlling weeds\, identifying and encouraging native species\, maintaining your site and planting native trees where required. You can actively play a part by joining the Bonogin Valley Bushcare Group. \nThe Bonogin Valley Bushcare Group was established in April of 2013 and is partnered with the Natural Areas Management Unit under the Beaches to Bushland Volunteer Landcare Program. The group assists with the restoration of City of Gold Coast-managed Davenport Park along the upper reaches of Bonogin Creek. \nThe group’s activities consist of environmental weed control and planting native riparian species where required. \nThe group meet on the first Saturday of the month from February to November\nTime: 8am – 10am\nLocation: Davenport Park\, Parkmeadows Road\, Bonogin\nWhat to bring: Sturdy shoes\, long sleeve shirts\, pants\, sunscreen\, hat and some water. SUMMARY:Catchment Crawl - Green Week
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an informative day in the hinterland seeing some of the great work being carried out to restore our natural areas\, care for our wildlife\, control pest species and change people’s perspectives. \nThe Catchment Crawl is an annual bus tour organised by the Gold Coast Catchment Association and this year supported by the City of Gold Coast and SEQwater. The event is free and lunch is provided. \nThis year’s Catchment Crawl will be held on Saturday the 8th of June as part of Gold Coast Green Week and will visit examples of the extensive work being carried out in the Numinbah Valley Catchment by SEQwater\, Healthy Land and Water\, Bornhoffen PCYC &Numinbah Valley Environmental Education Centre P&C Association. We will start at 8:30AM and will be back at the meeting place around 4PM \nThe day is a great opportunity for you to see some of these projects up close\, mingle with like-minded people and a create way to expand your knowledge and network. \nWe require everyone to wear proper clothing and footwear as there will be quite a bit of bushwalking involved. Please take a bottle of water and your own morning tea. \nMore information will be send out to all participants closer to the event date. \nPlease cancel your tickets if you can’t join us so we can give your spot to someone else! \nThis event is suitable for 16 years of age and older

DESCRIPTION:Walk through a melaleuca wetland and eucalypt forests learning more about the park and spotting some of thewildlife along the way. The park is home to a number of eastern grey kangaroos\, native birds and even koalas.The trail is flat\, however the walk is approximately 4km so you will require moderate fitness. \nThe walk is tailored for adult learning but is suitable for ages 16 and above. \n \n
