Every year in Australia, thousands of birds and other wildlife are injured or killed by fishing tackle. The majority of this tackle is carelessly dropped on the ground instead of being disposed of safely in a bin. Tackle bins offer a handy solution for unwanted fishing line and tackle. At the Gold Coast Marine Debris Network, our Tackle Bin Project has culminated in our specially designed bins that keep tackle safely secured and allow it to be disposed of properly, as well as increasing awareness of the need for safe disposal. ​
