Bonogin Valley Bushcare Group
Bonogin Valley is nestled between Tallebudgera and Austinville with the upper reaches of Bonogin Creek protected by Council and National Park. Bonogin Valley Bushcare Group has been helping to protect and restore the Bonogin Creek catchment since 2013. Working in partnership with GCCC, contractors and passionate volunteers, they have been able to increase the area of riparian vegetation, help protect creek banks from erosion, reduce weeds and improve habitat opportunities for native wildlife. Currently they are working on a project at Firth Park, Mudgeeraba, with the aim of planting 50,000 native trees along the creek. Each month is an opportunity to learn about restoration techniques while helping our environment, they encourage community involvement and it’s a great morning outdoors! They meet bi-monthly on the first Saturday of the month from February to November.
