Protecting Austinville through hands on restoration

Austinville is a beautiful valley that forms a buffer between the Gold Coast Urban Footprint and World Heritage Springbrook National Park.  A third of the upstream portion of Austinville is protected by National Park and Council, and Private Conservation Reserves.

Austinville Landcare has been protecting and helping to restore degraded areas of the valley for over 16 years.  We work in Partnership with the City of Gold Coast and our passionate volunteer community on beautiful sites along the creek line.  Our monthly field days involve weeding, planting, and water bug testing.  We always end our field days with boiling the billy, enjoying a tasty morning tea and having a relaxed chat. We also apply for grants and have raised nearly a million dollars to pay environmental contractors to help our volunteer effort.  This combined effort of volunteers and contractors has resulted in the ecological restoration of most of the creek line of the valley including large areas of endangered rainforest.

If you would like to work in a beautiful hinterland location with a friendly group that is making a real difference - contact us at Austinville Landcare and come along to one of our field days!
